Do it yourself

Obviously it's important to get as many quotes as possible, around 3 is the average.

Being armed with some of the information in the following pages should make life somewhat easier.

Always bear in mind that although most Company Representatives work for themselves they promote their companies’ products too. These products may not be what you are looking for so take great care not to make the wrong choice.

Make a list of the questions you want to ask the representative, and set a time limit as to how long you wish the meeting to last, and tell the representative this time limit when they arrive.

It has been known for some representatives to spend all evening until quite late and some will not leave until they get the order.

Ask which type of product they are selling.

Armed with the information you will find on the various pages on this site, you should be able to find exactly what you are looking for without the representative wasting your time.

The representative should bring samples that you can examine.

Probably the best method of purchasing windows and doors is to visit their showroom if they have one.

All of their products should be on show there and this will give you time to make the right decision.

However, be aware of consumer law in this situation. If you sign on the dotted line in the showroom you may lose the right to cancel within 7 days! Think very carefully before you sign anything.

The alternative, of course, is to let us do it for you!
